Production Sound Mixer

A production sound mixer is the first one to hear your film or video. They are the tenacious one who will find a way to place a boom in that one wide shot, and the one who will still call for room tone after wrap is called. But above all, they are your best friend on set.

As a production sound mixer, I will ensure your film or video production sounds as good as it can be from the beginning, and save you as much unnecessary headache in the editing room as possible.

My Kit:

FAQ

Q: What areas do you serve?

A: Anywhere you need me! I'm based in Coralville, Iowa, which makes it easy for me to travel to larger cities like Chicago, Omaha, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and more.

Q: What's your rate?

A: What's your budget? While I have set day rates for commercial work based on labor and my kit, I understand not everyone has the means to pay a full day rate. Reach out, pitch me your project and what you need of me, and we'll talk from there!

Q: Can you provide equipment as a boom operator?

A: My boom operator kit consists of a pair of gloves, headphones, quality-of-life items such as knee pads and an extra hat. Other items such as an extra boom pole or shotgun mic from my mixer kit can be negotiated.

Boom Operator

A boom operator is able to focus solely on holding the boom mic in the ideal position for any given scene and situation, all while giving your sound mixer's shoulders a break and ability to focus on the mix.

As a boom operator, I will work to capture quality sound through the boom mic and give your sound mixer the freedom to focus on monitoring the rest of the production sound mix.

Production Assistant

A production assistant is the extra pair of hands you didn't realize you needed until someone needs a ride to set, or a cup of coffee, or anything in between.

As someone with directing experience, I know how valuable a PA can be, especially during crunch time. You don't have time to be in two places at once, so turn one of those places over to a PA! Let me help you take a load off your shoulders, get you a snack, and go tell the talent in the green room to report to set.
